Angels of Mercy is one of the nicknames the women who served in the Canadian Army Nursing Service during World War One earned for themselves, thanks to their dedication and hard work.
My next Pinterest board to be made public is dedicated to these Angels of Mercy as well as the doctors and medics who served with them.
Here is a sampling of some of the pins.
The nursing sisters also were nicknamed “bluebirds” because of their uniform.
Perhaps my favorite wartime photo. Nurses line up to vote for the first time.
Those wounded on the frontlines had to be evacuated to dressing stations and casualty clearing stations with great care.
Sadly, this board has less than 100 pins. If you know of any photos which should be added to the board, please send me the link or the pin. It would be appreciated.
